The Project:

When I joined the Design Team at Marex, the brand was midway through a refresh, there were some good ideas, but it was suffering from legacy elements holding things back. In my first few weeks I spoke to key stakeholders, to understand how the brand was being used and why. The main take away from this research was inconsistency, the brand was an amalgamation of acquisitions and conflicting artwork, mixed across areas of the business, without a key message or design style.

Since then, having presented my research and proposal to the CEO, I have implemented a unified brand that encompasses the company values. The outcome is a stripped back identity that is clear and concise, simplifying the output to create an easy-to-digest visual style.

Marex launched an IPO in April 2024, I utilised this event as a springboard for introducing the brand refresh. With everyone at the company having sight of the new look during the celebration, it was the perfect time to roll out the new brand. We developed a design website (design.marex.com) as an easy-to-use toolkit for colleagues to learn and interact with, housing guides, logos, fonts, graphics, colour palettes, photography and templates. Working alongside the Corporate Affairs team, we shared the new look with the Marex team via emails, intranet articles, 121 training and adapted the Marex default templates and settings across the Microsoft Office suite to the new brand styles.
