UNIO Coffee

 

The University of East Anglia Students Union have run their own bars, cafes and shops for years. However, with the rise of coffee culture in young people, Students’ Unions across the UK started turning to brands such as Starbucks and Costa.

The Brief:
My brief was simple; A professional, modern coffee brand, that students would instantly recognise to be reliable, friendly and consistent.

The Cups:
Alongside the standard white cup other designs were developed to celebrate, or raise awareness of occasions across the year - Red Christmas cups and Rainbow LGBT History Month cups. Other variations since, have been Mental Awareness Month, General Election and Black History Month.

The Logo:
By using a circle it's an obvious visual link to other high street coffee outlets (as well as it being the shape that the Union uses the most).

The "O" features a symbol that represents both a coffee bean and the swirl of a hot drink. By making the "O" different to the rest of the word it highlights the root of the name, "UNI".
